Presto acquires Global Wind Academy to build a European leader within GWO training

Presto Denmark today announces the acquisition of Global Wind Academy ApS (GWA). This transaction creates a platform with the scale and geographic reach to support the wind industry's growing demand for trained, certified field technicians across Europe.

Presto Denmark is part of Presto Group (Presto), Europe's leading provider of fire protection, first aid and safety training.

GWA is one of Denmark's most established providers of safety and technical training certified by Global Wind Organization (GWO).

GWA, headquartered in Struer, Denmark, has built a strong reputation as a GWO Training Provider since 2016, serving major wind operators and original equipment manufacturers across Europe. In 2025, GWA trained more than 1,500 technicians and issued over 4,000 module certificates. Founder and CEO Per Lapholm Christoffersen will continue to lead Global Wind Academy following the acquisition.

Presto operates training facilities and service centers across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, and already delivers GWO training in Spain, Norway and Finland. The acquisition will allow Presto and GWA to expand GWO training delivery into additional countries and add new specialty modules at existing sites - bringing certified wind training closer to where technicians live and work.

“Wind energy is one of Europe’s most important growth industries, and certified safety training is the foundation that makes the workforce possible. By combining GWA’s certification expertise and customer relationships with Presto’s geographic footprint, we are positioning ourselves to support our customers, and the wind industry more broadly, wherever their technicians need to train. This is a long-term commitment to the sector,” says Mark Nilsson, Country Manager Presto Denmark.

“Joining Presto allows us to do even more of what our customers have been asking for: deliver our training in more locations, expand our portfolio of modules, and work even more closely with our customers. Our GWA team, our standards, and our customer-first approach remain unchanged. What changes is the scale at which we can deliver GWO training,” says Per Lapholm Christoffersen, CEO of Global Wind Academy.
